When a security firm were looking for commercial photographers to take corporate portraits of their staff for a case study at locations in Edinburgh, Dundee and Aberdeen, they approached Blink Imaging to help out due to our experience of working on location.
Although this shot appears natural it took a few attempts to get all the elements right.
Although most of the staff who were appearing in the photographs had come in specially for the shoot, they were still being photographed in an active working environment which always presents challenges. Fortunately, we have a lot of experience in producing corporate portraits for case studies. This requires the ability to work quickly and also be able to adapt to the environment. For this we use a variety of portable lighting which allows us to obtain professional images when time is limited.
For this shot we used additional location lighting to help make the staff stand out.
The shoot also required a variety of different scenarios, from corporate portraits of staff at security desks in offices to on-site patrols in business parks and shopping centres.
One thing we quickly learned from the client is that security staff are meant to be a presence at the locations. Usually, when photographing staff, we like to help them relax and appear approachable but that wasn’t required here.
We took this shot in an active reception area so we had to work quite quickly.
